Yay! So I just got back from the DCI show! Very fun, very exciting. I got to see JACKUMS! (yay!)
AND, I got to see Mad-Chan! That's good. She's never home anymore. *pout*
So so so. The show. (I will upload pics later!)
Very good all in all! And.... BD WON! And I won't bite my tongue, we crushed SCV! lol
Ok, show by show:
BDC: Classicool.
So cute! They were so short! It's nice to see the young enthusiasm, especially knowing that they can't place anything but last. It's awesome. Plus, look at the following BD has to need a C corps. ^^ It was an adorable show. Lots of familiar pieces. (although Mad says the shortie trumpet kid kicked Michael Ellito just cause. Can't be true! He was too cute!)
SCVC: Their uniforms made me think of pizza boxes. ^^ But, they were quite good. I was RATHER impressed with their musicality. Even if their lines were off... that hurt them. PLUS, the show was Moulin Rouge! Very emotional. I got chills.
BDB: Great show. Lots of block formations. But, the formations, all in all, were REALLY GOOD. I think I only noticed someone off once. It was a Tuba. (hehe) And I liked the music. Madi's solos were great, and I liked their long strings of 16th notes. ^_^
~
Mandarin: I LIKED them! They got last. I really did like them a lot. AND, their burnt orange uniforms. I thought their show was really good and it impressed me. Go figur.
Troopers: Very military looking! Cross between sailors, cowboys, and military school brats. It was a cool look overall. Their drum major's outfit was bomb. Their show was pretty good too (although Mandarin's held my interest more). Plus, some of their formations were awesome. Especially the creepy one that looked like a third eye. It was trippy I tell you. There were plenty of places where they were off the lines, but when they were on, OH, WERE THEY ON! It looked great most of the time.
Blue Knights: I ALSO really liked them. A lot. Their theme was Shiver (winter in Colorado). Which was kind of cool because it had that home feel. (although sometimes Denver winter sounded depressing and hopeless. And other times it sounded like a scene from Narnia). They were very good. I liked their formations. I was impressed.
Blue Coats: SPARKLY! That's all I can really say. WOW, were they sparkly. April would have a field day. They were very good technically and musically. All in all, a powerhouse. But I found the show a little cheesy. (*flag* IDEA!) Weird...
PLUS, people booed them. WHY?!?!!?
SCV (VanGuard): SIMPLE GIFTS?!!! WHY?!??!! However, I was rather impressed by them. They're not well-renowned current champion title holders for nothing. Their colorguard was incredible. Heck, the band was too. Very good all in all. One rifle drop (I think everyone had one of those) And the ending was... WOW. Chill-worthy. Very loud and dramatic. The whole crowd got on their feet and cheered. BUT, it wasn't over! It got very quiet and pretty at the end, with the cool stretching line formation. Also, their show has the chill moment of silence... which some guy ruined by shouting "VANGUARD!" lol.
BDA: Whoot! Although some of the music made me think of the 20s not the 30s... it was played very well! Plus, the chairs were a nice element. They moved ALL OVER THE PLACE. It was wicked. And some of the positions the colorguard held up there... WOW. They definately saved the best for last, and for first place. They were the group I was most excited to see, and they didn't let me down. (and the sailor suit guard uniforms were adorable!) Great musicality, some wickedly fast parts that fit together perfectly, and awesome visuals. Whoot!
*sigh* yAY! I got it all out. And now, my fan is making me cold. I bid thee all, night night!
(and by all, I mean the wonderful and beautiful, MARIN!)

Amateur response to DCI show to follow
....
BDC: Hahaha... The little kid kicked Michael Elliot... I find that very amusing. And yes--they were adorable. I love seeing that kind of devotion in kids that little. They'll be amazing someday!! *shining eyes*
Cadets: Yeah, they sounded amazing. I loved the show, music-wise. And I got over their uniforms. Though they were rather geometric...!
BDB: Yeah, well. (poor tuba)
Mandarin: I loved their show, if only for all the colors. They were very colorful! Their uniforms were cool, and all the different flags were fun.
Troopers: Will not disagree. Drum major uniform = bomb. Their formations were crazy. That trippy thing in the middle, with the weird sort of oval-like thing in the center, and then it was all shrinking... Yeah, I thought it was, like, an optical illusion/kaleidoscope sort of thing going on. Woah.
Blue Knights: I liked their show a lot; the music was cool. You really could hear the winter element in there.
Blue Coats: Again, bomb uniforms. They were kind of mezmorizing, really. I found myself kind of zoning out as I watched the sparkles... That's all I really remember, but they were pretty good, too. Plus, they're practically from my hometown.
SCV: Probably one of the best ending climaxes I've ever seen. It really added something to the show, I think, that they held back through the whole thing until the very end. I mean, it was all up-in-your-face and then it just tapered away... I love how they retreated right along with the music, I thought it was brilliant. Their guard was unbelievable.
Blue Devils: What can you even say? What can I even say? Their formations were unlike anything I've ever seen--live, anyway. Maybe on the telie, or something, but never LIVE... The chairs were a nice touch, really. They kept moving and I didn't even notice until they were fifty yards away...!
